(Pix via FDNY \/ SWNS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief of Department John Esposito said: \u201cIt\u2019s a very serious situation because the box beams\u2014the steel beams\u2014have started to bend and deflect from the weight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe evacuated the building and started evacuations of surrounding buildings. The building has continued to move since we have been on the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FDNY say their drones have provided technical information and visuals for their partner agencies as assessments are conducted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NYC Buildings Commissioner Ahmed Tigani said at a press conference Tuesday night: \u201cWe are feeling confident that many of the emergency shoring measures that have been put in place as a result of extensive discussions with the building owner, the contractor, their licensed professional, is stabilizing the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 37-storey building in Manhattan is at risk of collapse after structural steel beams buckled.
