Selections have been revealed for the 38th annual\u00a0Festival of New Musicals, which will be held October 22-23 at New World Stages.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The National Alliance for Musical Theatre presents the festival annually, staging a handful of musicals currently in development in 45-minute concert presentations attended by\u00a0hundreds of producers, presenters, artistic and executive directors, investors, donors, developers, and creative administrators from regional theatre,\u00a0Broadway, music, film, and television.\u00a0As a non-profit organization, NAMT funds the Festival entirely through donations, sponsorships and contributions which underwrite all production costs. Previous musicals staged in the festival include\u00a0Come From Away<\/a>, Lempicka<\/a>, Ordinary Days,\u00a0Thoroughly Modern Millie<\/a>,\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n This year’s new musicals include Black Girl in Paris, with a book and lyrics by\u00a0AriDy Nox and music by\u00a0Jacinth Greywoode<\/a>; BLUDLINE: A Hip-Hop Odyssey with a book, music, and lyrics by\u00a0Fermin Suero, Jr. and Pete White;\u00a0The (Disaster) Marathon of 1904\u00a0with a book by Tyler Joseph Ellis and\u00a0music and lyrics by Jacob Ryan Smith and Dan\u00a0Mertzlufft;\u00a0Fouad of Nazareth\u00a0with a book, music, and lyrics by\u00a0Fouad Dakwar;\u00a0How to Play the Cello (Until You Don’t)\u00a0with a book, music, and lyrics by Benjamin Emory Larson;\u00a0Love of a Lifetime\u00a0with a book, music, and lyrics by Lara Flip;\u00a0The Ramayan with a book, music, and lyrics by\u00a0Manik Choksi; and\u00a0Sunwatcher\u00a0with a book and additional music by Isabella Dawis and\u00a0music by\u00a0Tidtaya Sinutoke.<\/p>\n Creative teams and casting for each musical, as well as further festival programming, will be revealed at a later date.<\/p>\n
