Some of the numerous honors he has earned throughout his esteemed career include being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score as a member of The Beatles for the film “Let It Be” and being knighted by the British Royal Family.

Stevie Wonder opened for the band at the first show, according to the stadium’s website. The Beatles played a set that included “Twist and Shout,” a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Roll Over Beethoven” and “Long Tall Sally.”

Whether anyone heard the performance is another thing; the stadium noted that the crowds, mostly filled with teenage girls at the time, did not stop screaming in delight throughout the Fab Four’s roughly hour-long show.
