Mitch McConnell\u2019<\/a>s health status has become such a big mystery that even Republican elected officials<\/a> and MAGA influencers are asking for proof<\/a> that the Kentucky senator is alive and (relatively) well.<\/p>\n Instead, the only update we got today is new video of McConnell being loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher nearly a month ago.<\/p>\n We first learned that the former Senate Majority Leader was unwell on Sunday, June 14, when his spokesman David Popp said in a brief statement, \u201cSenator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care.\u201d<\/p>\n McConnell\u2019s office has still not said why the 84-year-old senator was hospitalized. But audio from a dispatch call that surfaced earlier this month revealed that emergency medical personnel were called to McConnell\u2019s Washington, D.C., home at 8:36 a.m. on June 14 because an \u201cunconscious person\u201d was in possible \u201ccardiac arrest.\u201d A medic on the call said, \u201cCPR in progress.\u201d<\/p>\n Now CNN has obtained footage<\/a> filmed by McConnell\u2019s neighbors of the EMS response. The brief video shows someone being loaded into the back of an ambulance on a stretcher. Only their motionless foot is visible.<\/p>\n @cnn<\/a> <\/p>\n A neighbor of Sen. Mitch McConnell shared video with CNN from the morning of June 14 showing a person being wheeled on a stretcher toward an ambulance. The video shows McConnell’s house on the day his team said he was hospitalized, and the neighbor said another witness relayed that the person on the stretcher was McConnell.<\/p>\n \u266c original sound – CNN – CNN<\/a> <\/p>\n A neighbor told CNN they opened their door on the morning of June 14 to find their street was blocked off by two ambulances, a fire truck, and Capitol Police officers. The officers said there had been a \u201cmedical emergency\u201d but did not confirm McConnell was being treated, saying they would block the street for anybody.<\/p>\n Other eyewitnesses told the neighbor it was McConnell on the stretcher and he was not wearing an oxygen mask:<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s in a stretcher, and he\u2019s in some sort like orange foam looking blanket type thing,\u201d the neighbor said. The neighbor said they looked at McConnell\u2019s feet, which were uncovered and \u2014 in a brief glimpse \u2014 were \u201cnot moving.\u201d<\/p>\n The neighbor said while they did not see McConnell\u2019s face, others on the block did.<\/p>\n \u201cOne of my neighbors is like, \u2018Oh yeah, it\u2019s Mitch, I saw his face,\u2019\u201d the neighbor recounted to CNN.<\/p>\n The neighbor also noted that emergency responders were working quickly but didn\u2019t seem panicked:<\/p>\n \u201cIn a situation where perhaps time is of the essence, there seems to be a little bit more urgency, but there was no urgency here,\u201d the neighbor told CNN.<\/p>\n When the emergency vehicles left the street, the neighbor said their sirens were not on.<\/p>\n McConnell\u2019s office has said he \u201ccontinues to improve,\u201d but it has not offered any detailed updates on his health. Three of McConnell\u2019s friends and colleagues \u2014 Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senator John Barrasso, and CNN pundit Scott Jennings \u2014 have claimed that they had lengthy phone conversations with the senator during his hospitalization and he\u2019s eager to return to work. Earlier this week a spokesperson for Elaine Chao<\/a>, McConnell\u2019s wife of 33 years, said she was on a trip to China on June 14 and \u201cthe Senator\u2019s health did not warrant an immediate return to the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n
