{"id":292507,"date":"2026-07-10T18:19:03","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T18:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/292507\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T18:19:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T18:19:03","slug":"pedestrian-fatally-hit-by-a-semi-truck-on-interstate-in-iowa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/292507\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedestrian fatally hit by a semi truck on interstate in Iowa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) &#8211; A pedestrian was fatally struck on Interstate 80 Friday morning near Brooklyn, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Around 1:30 a.m. Friday, the Poweshiek County Sheriff\u2019s Office got a call that a man was standing on the side of the road. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">When they arrived to the scene, they found a semi-tractor trailer pulled off to the shoulder. The driver told authorities that he thought he had hit something.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, the truck was headed eastbound on I-80 when it struck the man around 1:37 a.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A preliminary investigation from ISP says that the man walked into the road and was hit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Authorities did not know the identity of the man. The man\u2019s body was taken to the Iowa State Medical Examiner\u2019s Office for autopsy and identification. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCRG.
