Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston calls the city council\u2019s current discussions about accessory dwelling units<\/a> in the city \u201cimportant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston interviewed in the CCX Media studio in July 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically it\u2019s a unit people can build in their backyard where somebody can live,\u201d Mayor Winston told CCX Media\u2019s Dave Kiser during a taping of the quarterly Mayor\u2019s Minutes segment. \u201cSo, as a city, we need to make sure it works with the overall character of the city, we want to make sure it\u2019s safe, we also want to help folks that are trying to meet those overall needs for their family. We want to see if we can make that happen. It\u2019s an important discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Winston also talked about the on-going registration for the upcoming annual National Night Out<\/a> parties on Tuesday, August 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrime is down. We\u2019re at a 36-year low. A lot of that has to do with residents working with our police,\u201d Winston told Kiser. \u201cThis is a place to kind of recognize all of that. National Night Out is incredibly important. As a city, we do very well in participation. We want that to continue as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
