Among those waiting in line were two fans who traveled from Chicago to take part in the celebration. <\/p>\n
\u201cJa\u00ff-Z has been a big inspiration for me ever since I was growing up,\u201d one fan said. \u201cThe first album I bought was ‘The Blueprint.’\u201d <\/p>\n
Another fan called the event a once-in-a-lifetime experience. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s one of our GOATs. We grew up on him. He deserves his flowers,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no better place to give it to him than his own city, Yankee Stadium. This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment.\u201d <\/p>\n
The dedication wasn\u2019t limited to fans from the Midwest. Concertgoers from Phoenix and Detroit also made the trip, with some saying they have followed Ja\u00ff-Z\u2019s career for years and rarely miss an opportunity to see him perform live. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve seen him many, many times. All over,\u201d one longtime fan said. <\/p>\n
Before heading inside the stadium, many stopped to pick up commemorative merchandise. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m about to spend a grip for me and my family,\u201d another fan joked. \u201cI\u2019m about to spend a whole lot of money for Ja\u00ff for sure.\u201d <\/p>\n
For those looking to keep the celebration going before and after the concerts, The Dugout, a nearby fan gathering spot, has become a popular destination. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s free, and we made it free for a lot of reasons,\u201d said DJ Kidnu, of The Dugout. \u201cPeople spent a lot of money to be inside, so why not come here and enjoy your night? We have a great vibe here. When you come here, you\u2019re going to feel it. This is going to be your home away from home.\u201d <\/p>\n
As showtime approaches, fans continue to stream into the area, with many attending pre-parties, shopping for merchandise, and soaking in the atmosphere surrounding one of New York City\u2019s biggest music events of the year. <\/p>\n
