{"id":29366,"date":"2025-11-05T09:58:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T09:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/29366\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T09:58:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T09:58:10","slug":"democrat-shirley-aldebol-defeats-republican-kristy-marmorato-in-district-13-race-bronx-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/29366\/","title":{"rendered":"Democrat Shirley Aldebol defeats Republican Kristy Marmorato in District 13 race \u2013 Bronx Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251104_224716-rotated.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"20251104_224716\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Democrat Shirley Aldebol celebrated her win over incumbent Republican Kristy Marmorato at the Bronx Dems headquarters on Nov. 4, 2025.  <\/p>\n<p>Photo by Emily Swanson <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>In the District 13 City Council race, Shirley Aldebol, a Democrat in her first political campaign, defeated Republican incumbent Kristy Marmorato by more than 1,800 votes.\n<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary Board of Elections <a href=\"https:\/\/enr.boenyc.gov\/CD268620.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">results <\/a>show that Aldebol received 51.59% of the vote, Marmorato 46.2% and independent candidate Joel Rivera 2.08%.<\/p>\n<p>The East Bronx district that includes Throggs Neck, Pelham Parkway, City Island and Morris Park has now flipped back to the Democrats after Marmorato handed a stunning defeat to Democratic incumbent Marjorie Vel\u00e1zquez in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Aldebol had a long career as a labor executive and union organizer and was endorsed by the city\u2019s prominent labor unions.
