A late-June LGBTQ Pride Month celebration in Westport, sponsored by state Sen. Michael Rodrigues, is catching heat after a video posted to social media shows adult men dressed in drag dancing provocatively at the \u201cfamily friendly\u201d event.<\/p>\n

The Westport Pride Fest was held on June 28 at the Alice A Macomber School \u2014 an elementary school in the town \u2014 and featured four drag queens described<\/a> by the event\u2019s official Facebook page as \u201cDrag Family Performers.\u201d The Pride Fest featured song and dance routines from drag queens Chocolate Killa, Samonwebcam, and Danni Savage Oniguma, and welcomed back Xibalba Oniguma, a drag queen who performed at the 2025 Pride Fest.<\/p>\n

A video<\/a> of the June 28 event posted on the Facebook page shows the drag queens performing. One of them even did some provocative dancing \u2014 including a sexual move called \u201ctwerking\u201d \u2014 for spectators. The drag queen performer, scantily clad in a short gold dress, was performing the dance move directly in front of a sign reading \u201cSenator Michael Rodrigues: Your voice in the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShake what your momma gave you,\u201d the videographer can be heard saying around the 11 minute mark.<\/p>\n

Just days before the event, organizers Keith and Jessie Dias were recognized at the State House by lawmakers for their outstanding impact, leadership and significant contributions to community during the inaugural 2026 Commonwealth Pride Awards, according to the Fall River Reporter.<\/p>\n

Along with Sen. Rodrigues, the event was also sponsored by Westport Federal Credit Union, South Coast Entertainment MA, and J.W. STEELE Custom Canvas.<\/p>\n

Fox News\u2019 Joe Concha to host MassFiscal event in Boston on Thursday<\/p>\n

The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance, in partnership with American\u2019s for Prosperity, will be holding a town hall-style event in downtown Boston on Thursday on welfare spending in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

The free event will be hosted by Fox News contributor Joe Concha and will focus on the nearly $30 billion in annual state spending on welfare programs in Massachusetts, the growing burden on taxpayers to fund these programs, and government transparency and oversight.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoin the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance and @AFPhq\u00a0 for an evening of discussion featuring Joe Concha, one of the country\u2019s leading political commentators, along with a distinguished panel discussing welfare spending, accountability, and the future of public policy in Massachusetts,\u201d MassFiscal said in a social media post<\/a> last week highlighting the event.<\/p>\n

Featured panelists include MassFiscal Executive Director Paul Craney, Americans for Prosperity Northeast Regional Director Ross Connolly, state Rep. Ken Sweezey, radio host Grace Curley, reporter from the Maine Wire Jon Fetherston, and Boston Herald political reporter Tim Dunn.<\/p>\n

The event will be held in downtown Boston on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.<\/p>\n

Keating staffer suddenly passes away<\/p>\n

A longtime staffer for Congressman Bill Keating (MA-09) has \u201cunexpectedly\u201d passed away, according to statements posted to the congressman\u2019s social media pages.<\/p>\n

Chris Matthews, who had served in Keating\u2019s office for over 10 years, most recently as Communications Director, passed away \u201cfollowing a medical event\u201d on June 29, according to his obituary<\/a>. Matthews was just 36 years old.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf any one of you begin to lose faith in our country, remember Chris Matthews. Remember he was without question one of the Commonwealth\u2019s sharpest political minds \u2014 a generational talent,\u201d Keating said in a message posted to X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose of us privileged to have worked with him for over fifteen years will remember his laugh and his wry, often biting, humor \u2014 contrasting the way things are to the way they could be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Prior to serving Keating\u2019s office as an aide, Matthews also worked as a Field Organizer on the Keating\u2019s congressional campaigns in 2012 and 2014.<\/p>\n

Matthews\u2019 obituary states that he leaves behind his wife, Molly, and her son, Eli, as well as a brother and several in-laws.<\/p>\n

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset, followed by a brief graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery in Scituate.<\/p>\n
