CAROLL GARDENS, Brooklyn (WABC) — A car smashed into a deli Sunday morning in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

Video from the scene shows an Audi vehicle next to the storefront where shattered glass littered the sidewalk outside Garden Gourmet Deli.<\/p>\n

Police say a 23-year-old male was operating a 2013 Mercedes Benz traveling northbound on Henry Street against traffic. The Mercedes collided with a 2019 Audi, operated by a 37-year-old male, that was traveling eastbound on Union Street.<\/p>\n

The Audi mounted the sidewalk and struck the storefront.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old female passenger of the Mercedes was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and is expected to survive.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old operator of the Audi was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and also is expected to survive.<\/p>\n

Police said one person is in police custody but did not specify the person’s identity or charges they may be facing.<\/p>\n
