(New York, New York) \u2013 Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is sharpening his criticism of New York City leadership, saying Manhattan store owners are increasingly frustrated by homelessness, litter and worsening street conditions.<\/p>\n

Blakeman said he has spoken with business owners who are furious about the condition of the streets, arguing that parts of Manhattan are beginning to look like a third-world country under Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The comment is likely to fuel an already heated debate over public safety, sanitation and quality of life.<\/p>\n

Store owners in busy commercial corridors have long complained that street disorder can drive away foot traffic, hurt workers and make customers feel less safe. Those concerns become even more politically potent when they are tied to tourism, retail sales and the city\u2019s national image.<\/p>\n

For Mamdani, the criticism adds pressure to show that City Hall can manage basic services while also pursuing a progressive agenda.
