(WCAX) &#8211; The National Transportation Safety Board is at the scene of a small plane crash that happened Monday night northwest of Saranac Lake in Harrietstown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">New York State Police say they were notified around 11:15 p.m. of a downed aircraft in the area of Hearf\u2019s Way and State Route 186, near the Adirondack Regional Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They say a 1976 Piper Aerostar took off from the airport just after 10:30 and lost communication soon after.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Search crews located the aircraft, which they say had been destroyed by the impact and a post-crash fire. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There was no immediate word on how many people were onboard.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WCAX.
