RELATED: Family With History of Fighting to Save Lives Hopes to Inspire Others<\/a><\/p>\n There, Nunez met with Bridge\u2019s executive director, Francesca Yellico, who promised\u00a0that she\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0alone and that she could depend on Bridge for help with anything she needed\u00a0\u2014\u00a0whether it was a shoulder to\u00a0cry on or baby clothes.<\/p>\n Nunez\u00a0ultimately had\u00a0her\u00a0baby, and\u00a0now the mother of a two-year-old girl named Zoe.<\/p>\n \u201cMy friend brought me here to speak to\u00a0my dear friend\u00a0Francesca\u00a0at Bridge,\u201d Nunez said. \u201cThey opened\u00a0their doors,\u00a0and they\u00a0offered space for me to just vent my fears, and they\u00a0listened.\u201d<\/p>\n She currently lives in Orlando, Florida, but she keeps in touch with Yellico, who welcomed her back to Bridge on July 9 when she hosted a reception in her honor. Nunez, 34, was presented with two scholarships \u2014 $3,000 from the Kathleen Mullally Foundation and $500 from Bridge \u2014 to help her pay tuition at a school where she is improving her English-speaking skills. Her native language is Spanish.<\/p>\n The Kathleen Mullally Foundation was established in 2020 by Mullally\u2019s niece, Josephine Catalano, to assist pregnant students and students who are mothers. Mullally had no children of her own, but she doted on her nieces and nephews, Catalano said. <\/p>\n And so, she wanted to\u00a0pay lasting tribute to her by starting a\u00a0scholarship,\u00a0and since\u00a0Catalano\u00a0was a member of Students for Life<\/a> as an\u00a0undergraduate\u00a0and volunteered at Bridge,\u00a0she\u00a0decided\u00a0on a pro-life scholarship.<\/p>\n \u201cI could never have imagined when I was an\u00a0undergrad\u00a0at Queens College that I would still be\u00a0doing\u00a0this years later,\u201d Catalano explained at the reception. \u201cI just wanted,\u00a0as\u00a0a volunteer,\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0back,\u00a0and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0turned into its own thing.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cAnd now I\u2019m still giving scholarships to these beautiful, beautiful women with beautiful stories. And I\u2019m always so inspired by them.\u201d <\/p>\n
