{"id":296100,"date":"2026-07-14T23:53:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T23:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/296100\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T23:53:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T23:53:51","slug":"tacoma-police-arrest-suspect-in-2024-homicide-near-emerald-queen-casino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/296100\/","title":{"rendered":"Tacoma Police arrest suspect in 2024 homicide near Emerald Queen Casino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">Tacoma police have arrested a man in connection with a homicide near I-5 and the Emerald Queen Casino.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">On July 15, 2024, officers responded to the 2000 block of E. 28th Street for a report of a shooting and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">\u201cTacoma Police officers and Tacoma Fire Department personnel immediately began lifesaving measures; however, the victim died from his injuries,\u201d the Tacoma Police Department (TPD) said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/198rBs1Exj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">news release<\/a> Tuesday. \u201cThe suspect in this case remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives during the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">Washington State Patrol troopers and Puyallup Tribal Police assisted with the initial investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">TPD said detectives asked the suspect to turn himself in \u2014 and he did, surrendering on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2 whitespace-pre-wrap\">He was booked into jail for investigation of second-degree murder.<\/p>\n<p>Frank Lenzi is the News Director for KIRO Newsradio.
