FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker will step down from his role next month, according to City Hall.<\/p>\n
Tucker\u2019s last day will be Friday, Dec. 19, City Hall said Wednesday, without immediately providing details.<\/p>\n
Mayor Eric Adams named Tucker commissioner<\/a> in August 2024. Tucker replaced Laura Kavanagh, the first woman to lead the department. She stepped down earlier that month<\/a>.<\/p>\n Before he became commissioner, Tucker served as chairman and CEO of T&M USA, a New York City-based global security firm, and sat on the board of directors for the FDNY Foundation, the department\u2019s official not-for-profit.<\/p>\n According to a profile on the group\u2019s website, Tucker began his career with the FDNY as a teenager in the agency’s communications office in Manhattan.<\/p>\n As commissioner, he oversaw the department’s roughly 17,000 employees and multibillion-dollar budget.<\/p>\n City Hall has not yet said who will serve as acting commissioner following his departure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker will step down from his role next month, according to City Hall.
