{"id":297694,"date":"2026-07-16T15:24:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T15:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/297694\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T15:24:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T15:24:10","slug":"dj-shot-to-death-in-bronx-neighborhood-with-surge-of-murders-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/297694\/","title":{"rendered":"DJ shot to death in Bronx neighborhood with surge of murders this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"830\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-05-24-at-9.14.43-AM.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"police officer in brooklyn staring at crime scene\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"   title=\"DJ shot to death in Bronx neighborhood with surge of murders this year 1\"\/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>FILE \u2013 A police officer stands guard at a crime scene.<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Dean Moses <\/p>\n<p>Detectives in the <a href=\"https:\/\/amny.com\/bronx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bronx<\/a> are investigating the death of a DJ who was fatally shot near a nightclub early on Thursday morning in an area where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/new-york\/bronx\/man-stabbed-to-death-in-bronx\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">murder rates have surged this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Officers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypd46pct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">46th Precinct<\/a> were called to a report of an assault in front 2362 Jerome Ave., the M Lounge Restaurant, at around 4:26 a.m. on July 16.<\/p>\n<p>When they arrived at the scene, officers found a 29-year-old man lying on the street with a gunshot wound to his head.\u00a0EMS pronounced the victim dead at the location.\n<\/p>\n<p>Police have withheld the victim\u2019s identity, pending family notification. Sources familiar with the case state that the victim is known to be a local DJ with some 10,000 followers on SoundCloud.<\/p>\n<p>The motive for the slaying is not known and no arrests have been made.\n<\/p>\n<p>Detectives are searching for two men who are considered persons of interest. Police said one man was last seen wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, a dark shirt, blue shorts, and white shoes. The other was seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, killings in the confines of the 46th Precinct have surged throughout 2026. As of July 12, murders are up by a staggering 166.7%, with 8 homicides, up from 3 at the same point in 2025.\n<\/p>\n<p>Thursday\u2019s shooting is the second homicide in the 46th Precinct this week. On Sunday, a 46-year-old man was stabbed to death near the corner of East 183rd Street and Grand Concourse.\n<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding Thursday\u2019s deadly shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
