QUEENS, New York City (WABC) — Federal law enforcement is now investigating former New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda.<\/p>\n

Search warrants were executed at his Queens home Thursday.<\/p>\n

It’s not clear what exactly prompted the search.<\/p>\n

No arrests were made.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Eyewitness News reported<\/a> the city’s Department of Investigation was looking into Miranda’s enforcement of unlicensed smoke shops, and the cash seized during those investigations.<\/p>\n

Mayor Zohran Mamdani replaced Miranda as city sheriff<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the mayor said the administration is aware of the federal investigation and its committed to transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n
