Knicks guard Jose Alvarado\u00a0is still riding high off New York\u2019s championship win \u2014 and hoping to inspire local youth with his story.<\/p>\n
The Brooklyn native, who grew up in the Roberto Clemente projects in Williamsburg, said the positive to being the only native New Yorker on the team is he can show city kids \u201cthat there is hope.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked what it\u2019s like to be the sole player from NYC, Alvarado, 28, said \u201cit\u2019s the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially when you win a championship,\u201d he told The Post from the ESPYs red carpet at the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s cool being home and being a kid from here and just to experience all this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surprisingly, his teammates don\u2019t ask him for tips on the best food spots in the area, Alvarado said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean sometimes, but you know, they already know where to go to get good food \u2026 But I just go to my own spots where I\u2019m from.\u201d<\/p>\n
