Critics are blasting Mayor Zohran Mamdani for vowing to try to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> when he comes to the UN in September \u2014 seething that Hizzoner should focus on the city\u2019s own major problems.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMamdani should concern himself with the homeless epidemic, the affordability crisis and the floods on New York City\u2019s roads rather than illegally meddling in foreign affairs to befriend more terrorists and attempt to arrest our friends,\u2019\u2019 fumed GOP firebrand and Brooklyn City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov to The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the mayor of New York City, not the secretary general of the United Nations,\u201d scoffed the pol \u2014 who fired off a blistering letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday saying Mamdani\u2019s \u201cthreat of an illegal order of arrest must bear consequences.<\/p>\n

Mamdani told The New York Times that Netanyahu belongs at the United Nations\u2019 International Court of Justice. REUTERS<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Mayor of New York City does not recognize the jurisdiction of the United States of America and will do anything he can to subvert our Constitutional Republic,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI respectfully request that the State Department issue a stern warning and an opinion as to whether such an act would violate U.S. law resulting in a prosecution and\/or criminal action taken by the federal government against Mayor Mamdani.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooklyn state Assemblyman Kalman Yeger called Mamdani \u201cdelusional.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani told the New York Times<\/a> on Saturday, \u201cI believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague,\u201d referring to the United Nations\u2019 International Court of Justice \u2014 and said he is having an \u201cactive conversation\u2019\u2019 about trying to jail the PM when he comes to Manhattan for the United Nations General Assembly in the fall.<\/p>\n

But Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman joined critics<\/a> in bashing the New York City mayor over his comments.<\/p>\n

Fetterman called Mamdani a \u201cclown.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s such a tough guy to say that kind of thing. He has no way to do that,\u2019\u2019 Fetterman said on Fox News\u2019 \u201cSunday Morning Futures.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Mayor Eric Adams also dumped on his successor, saying, \u201cThis isn\u2019t a college protest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThreatening to arrest the democratically elected leader of one of America\u2019s closest allies during U.N. General Assembly week isn\u2019t bold. It\u2019s reckless,\u2019\u2019 Adams said.<\/p>\n

Shosh Bedrosian, a former New Yorker and Israel\u2019s most recent rep for the prime minister\u2019s office, told The Post, \u201cPrime Minister Netanyahu \u2026 deserves respect as the elected leader of a democratic ally of the United States \u2014 not baseless attacks from a New York City mayor.<\/p>\n
