This week, families can check out new education pop-ups at Brooklyn Bridge Park, a stroller walk in Prospect Park, a BBQ in Flatbush, an open street summer evening in Bay Ridge, a family rave in DUMBO, a traveling art museum in Coney Island, jazz music in Fort Greene Park, a special community bike ride in Gowanus, a field day in Bed-Stuy, a juggling show in Carroll Gardens, and much more!<\/p>\n

MONDAY<\/p>\n

Education Pop-Ups | Brooklyn Bridge Park<\/a><\/p>\n

Various days\/times\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Bridge Park is bringing the Education Center outside this summer! Find their educators hosting two pop-ups in the Park: Education Station & Art-Making Station. The Education station will take place at Pier 6, next to the Water Lab, Monday-Wednesday 9:30am-12:30pm & Thursday-Friday 3:00-6:00 pm, with hands-on learning opportunities for kids of all ages! Join to learn about new Park-related subjects each week: oysters, flowers, algae, the Brooklyn Bridge and more! Each lesson involves creating something you can take home with you. The Art-Making Station will take place at Pier 1, across from the pavilion; Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 9:30am-12:30pm and Mondays, 2:00-5:00pm. In their first year running an art making station in the Park, they will be doing different activities each week that focus on Woody de Othello\u2019s sculptures. Learn how to work with clay, sketch, and use everyday materials, on view until March 2027.<\/p>\n

Free Admission Days at the Pier 2 Roller Skating Rink | Brooklyn Bridge Park<\/a><\/p>\n

Come to the Pier 2 Roller Skating Rink for some free family fun and exercise. Enjoy the fresh air and gorgeous views as you skate around the rink.<\/p>\n

The session is led in English and Spanish and all are welcome. The Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival began in July 2010, when musician Eric Frazier realized his long-standing dream to have a jazz festival in his own neighborhood park. It provides live jazz entertainment for families, neighborhoods, communities, and New Yorkers twice annually, typically in July and September each year. The Fort Greene neighborhood has housed a multitude of great Jazz Musicians including Max Roach, Randy Weston, Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Betty Carter, Gary Bartz, Cecil Taylor, Bill Lee, Slide Hampton, Toshi Reagon, and Carla Cook. City of Water Day: Water and Fireflies at the Greenway Botanical Garden | Navy Yard<\/a><\/p>\n

Explore the Greenway Botanical Garden while learning how water supports life here including many fireflies on this gardener-led walk. City of Water Day celebrates access to the water. The walk will cover how water conservation is tied to plantings along waterfront Greenways and learn about the plant and insect life water supports. Specifically for this night event, participants will learn about fireflies, observe them in the native wildflower meadow and learn how native plants and water support these bioluminescent insects in the stages of their lifecycle. Participants will observe fireflies in the landscape after dark and learn traits of the insect genus and species with a gardener-led talk and catch-and-release observation on site. Build skills in making observations in natural spaces.<\/p>\n

Please join Brooklyn Bridge Park and DUMBO Dads Run Club<\/a> on the last Sunday of each month for some fun and fitness. All families and participants of all abilities are invited to join for a two-mile run\/walk. Meet and depart from Pier 1 Vale Lawn and follow the route south along the Piers. Maps will be provided. Running and walking strollers welcome. Please bring your own, they will not be provided.<\/p>\n
