ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) \u2014 A Brooklyn man is accused of running a fraudulent return scheme at Walmart stores across New York state after deputies said they found approximately $29,000 worth of real and suspected fraudulent computer processors in his vehicle.<\/p>\n
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Huang Dong on Friday after investigators said he returned to the Walmart on State Route 19 in the town of Warsaw and became involved in another fraudulent return transaction.<\/p>\n
Deputies said they also recovered more than $1,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the returns.<\/p>\n
The investigation began July 11, when Walmart asset protection employees reported that a man had allegedly tried to return a high-value computer processor for a refund using fraudulent means.<\/p>\n
Investigators identified Dong as the suspected individual and determined he had allegedly completed similar transactions at multiple Walmart locations across the state, the sheriff’s office said.<\/p>\n
Deputies took Dong into custody without incident in the store’s parking lot.<\/p>\n
Dong was charged with first-degree scheme to defraud, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and criminal simulation.<\/p>\n
He was processed and released and is scheduled to appear in Warsaw Town Court at a later date.<\/p>\n
