According to the NY Lotto website, the second prize is won if the first five numbers match without the Powerball.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VUABSACHGJDOPGLD3UZXRNDG54\">Under New York Lottery rules, prizes may be claimed up to one year after the drawing date. That means the ticket holder has until Aug. 6, 2026, to claim the winnings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YMCY355K5JEQBAIXGZ5L6XVGXI\">The lottery advises whoever holds the winning ticket to sign the back of it and put it in a safe place.
