{"id":30121,"date":"2025-11-05T23:13:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T23:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/30121\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T23:13:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T23:13:12","slug":"families-are-fleeing-nyc-private-schools-following-mamdani-victory-competing-for-coveted-miami-spots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/30121\/","title":{"rendered":"Families are fleeing NYC private schools following Mamdani victory, competing for coveted Miami spots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zohran Mamdani\u2019s victory has New Yorkers<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/04\/us-news\/nyc-mayoral-election-live-updates-results-reactions-from-races-across-the-city\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> running for the hills<\/a> \u2014 or at least private schools outside of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Since the results of Tuesday\u2019s election came in, school placement consultant Christopher Rim told The Post he\u2019s had no less than 23 clients reach out to him. They\u2019re looking to relocate \u2014 and they want his help getting their kids into elite private high schools and middle schools in other states<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithin the first 30 minutes of AP announcing Mamdani\u2019s victory, I got three messages from families looking to move,\u201d said Rim, the founder and CEO of Command Education.<\/p>\n<p>Zohran Mamdani pulled off a decisive victory in the 2025 mayoral race. MediaPunch\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>Others sought his assistance months ago. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the summer, I started hearing families say, \u2018I don\u2019t know what we are going to do if this guy wins,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Feeling that a Mamdani victory was inevitable, six of his clients moved to Connecticut \u2014 Greenwich, Darien and Riverside \u2014 ahead of the school year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were like, \u2018He\u2019s going to win, and there\u2019s no reason [to wait],\u2019\u201d Rim said.<\/p>\n<p>The parents who have reached out to him have kids enrolled at top-notch New York City schools, including Trinity, Riverdale, Horace Mann, Ramaz and Avenues. Their children range from 3rd grade through high school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Families enrolled at the top-tier Trinity School on the Upper West Side have contacted school placement consultant Christopher Rim to transfer. Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Many, he reports, are Jewish and are concerned about rising antisemitism in the city and Mamdani\u2019s views on Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the latest on the Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re saying they\u2019re worried about safety in their everyday life,\u201d Rim said. \u201cI don\u2019t even think it\u2019s a financial thing. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s the taxes or how much more money they would have to pay to live here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Rabbi Marc Schneier of The Hampton Synagogue has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/17HSm2LNLJ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announced plans<\/a> to start the first Jewish Day School in the Hamptons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rabbi Marc Schneier announced plans to start a Jewish day school in the Hamptons on Tuesday. The Hampton Synagogue<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is in anticipation of the thousands of Jewish Families that will flock to the Hamptons and greater Suffolk County to escape the antisemitic climate of Mamdani\u2019s New York,\u201d the Rabbi wrote in a Tuesday Night Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p>A poll conducted by J.L. Partners right before the election <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/03\/us-news\/nearly-a-million-new-yorkers-ready-to-flee-nyc-if-mamdani-becomes-mayor-poll\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">found that 9% of New Yorkers<\/a> would \u201cdefinitely\u201d leave upon a Mamdani victory, and another 25% were considering it.<\/p>\n<p>Rim\u2019s clients have been primarily interested in schools in Florida, including American Heritage in Plantation; Lehrman Day School in Miami Beach; Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton; Ransom Everglades in Miami and Miami Country Day School.<\/p>\n<p>Pine Crest, a private K-12 school with campuses in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, is in demand with Rim\u2019s clients. Pine Crest School<\/p>\n<p>Saddle River Day School and Dwight Englewood in New Jersey and Greenwich Day School in Connecticut have also been popular placement requests.
