The national park system faces a maintenance\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/subjects\/infrastructure\/deferred-maintenance.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">backlog of $24 billion<\/a>\u00a0in crumbling roads, aging water systems, washed-out trails and dilapidated visitor facilities.
