New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) constructed a new transformer at the Meyer Substation in Dansville in Livingston County.<\/p>\n
The new substation doubles the capacity at the site. Once completed this fall, the project will improve reliability, resiliency, and capacity for approximately 6,740 customers in the Village of Dansville and surrounding communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cThe Meyer Substation was originally built in 1948 and has done a remarkable job serving customers for generations,\u201d Marc Geaumont, president of NYSEG, said. \u201cWhile this substation has been active for more than 70 years, the energy demands of today require modern infrastructure. These upgrades are essential to maintaining a strong grid, reducing outages, and helping customers stay connected during periods of extreme weather.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Meyer Substation supports NYSEG\u2019s transmission and distribution systems. It delivers energy to several smaller substations located throughout the company\u2019s service area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This was the first phase of the project. The second phase upgrade is expected to begin by the end of this year. In the next phase, NYSEG will add two more transformers and redeploy a current transformer to help further increase capacity. Also, the company will install components that support future capacity growth. The second phase is expected to be completed in 2029.\u00a0<\/p>\n
