Dave Portnoy continues to take jabs at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n
On Monday, the Barstool Sports founder took aim at Mamdani on X, sarcastically responding to the mayor’s statement following an explosion outside a federal building in Lower Manhattan.<\/p>\n
“What occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing. I’m relieved no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody. My team is in touch with the NYPD and we will support the federal investigation,” Mamdani wrote on X<\/a>. “Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city \u2014 and hold accountable any who threaten that.”<\/p>\n Portnoy, whose dislike of Mamdani has led to him considering running to unseat the mayor<\/a>, responded with a sarcastic post that appeared to mock Mamdani’s approach to crime and public safety.<\/p>\n “I am happy to report that the suspect is in custody and I have invited him as my guest of honor for dinner tonight at Gracie Mansion,” Portnoy wrote, quote-tweeting Mamdani’s post<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to WABC-TV in New York,<\/a> a man used fireworks to ignite a fire outside 26 Federal Plaza at about 8:30 a.m. Monday. He was also armed with multiple weapons, police said.<\/p>\n Federal authorities identified the suspect as 43-year-old Andrew Arrabaca, a former U.S. Army veteran who served from 2001-2005 as a mechanic on Patriot missile systems.<\/p>\n The FBI said Arrabaca poured gasoline into a stairwell outside the building and ignited it with a firework, sending flames and smoke up the building’s facade.
