These behaviors create risks for riders, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists,” he said.

He added: “Without consistent statewide standards, municipalities have limited tools to identify operators, promote accountability, and address unsafe riding practices.”

The town supervisor said the RIDERS Act would set up a statewide registration and accountability system, while liability insurance will be required to help ensure financial responsibility when crashes result in injuries or property damage.

Cazzari said the measures provide a “balanced approach that supports responsible e-bike use while improving safety for all who share our roadways.”

Michael Cazzari CARMEL – Carmel Supervisor Michael Cazzari worries that a speeding electric bicycle or scooter operated by…

[35
71006,23396,75,84,83,9,24,63,28220,114783
post-302831","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-manhattan","tag-carmel","tag-electric-bikes","tag-manhattan","tag-manhattan-headlines","tag-manhattan-news","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-nyc","tag-putnam-county","tag-supervisor-michael-cazzari
["GET
