Perelman Performing Arts Center<\/a>‘s upcoming holiday presentation of Jack Thorne<\/a>‘s\u00a0A Christmas Carol is partnering with Hunger Free America this year, and will collect donations for the charity throughout the run. Inspired by Charles Dickens<\/a>‘ motivation\u00a0for writing the original novella, the production has partnered with non-profits focused on food insecurity since its premiere in 2017 at London’s Old Vic\u00a0Theatre.<\/p>\n

PAC NYC is bringing the Matthew Warchus<\/a>-directed production back this year after presenting it for the first time last year. This year’s production will begin November 20 ahead of a December 3 opening, continuing through January 3, 2027.<\/p>\n

The play, written by Thorne and conceived and directed by Warchus, premiered at London’s Old Vic (where Warchus is artistic director) in 2017, and has been presented there annually since. A Broadway run came in 2019, with Tony-winning Broadway favorites LaChanze and Andrea Martin<\/a> in the cast. The holiday run became an unlikely five-time Tony winner at the meager, pandemic-affected 2020 ceremony, sweeping the Design of a Play categories and also taking Best Original Score. Producers had planned to make a holiday Broadway run an annual tradition<\/a>, but only a 2021 U.S. tour ultimately materialized.<\/p>\n

Casting\u2014by Jim Carnahan<\/a> and Jason Thinger<\/a>\u2014for this year’s production is to be announced. The production features sets and costumes by Rob Howell<\/a>, music and arrangements by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone<\/a>, sound by Simon Baker<\/a>, and wig, hair, and make-up design by Campbell Young<\/a>. Movement is by Lizzi Gee<\/a>.<\/p>\n
