A police union in Houston is attempting to recruit New York City cops \u201cdisgusted\u201d with New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani\u2019s victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Houston Police Officers\u2019 Union posted a graphic on Facebook<\/a> late Tuesday asking, \u201cNYPD, ARE YOU DISGUSTED WITH THE ELECTION OF ZOHRAN MAMDANI?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJOIN US!\u201d the graphic continues. \u201cTHE HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT IS HIRING POLICE OFFICERS!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani, a democratic socialist, secured New York City\u2019s top job on Tuesday after defeating political heavyweight and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The New York Assembly member had already bested Cuomo in the Democratic primary back in June, resulting in new nationwide attention toward him.<\/p>\n

Mamdani in October apologized<\/a> to the New York City Police Department (NYPD) for previous critiques directed toward the police force, in which he referred to them as \u201cracist,\u201d \u201cwicked\u201d and \u201ccorrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely, I\u2019ll apologize to police officers right here, because this is the apology that I\u2019ve been sharing with many rank-and-file officers,\u201d Mamdani told Fox News\u2019s Martha MacCallum when questioned if he would make a public apology to the officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I apologize because of the fact that I\u2019m looking to work with these officers. And I know that these officers, these men and women who serve in the NYPD, they put their lives on the line every single day,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The campaign arm of House Republicans, meanwhile, is launching a battleground ad blitz<\/a> linking Democrats to Mamdani, who has faced scrutiny from the right over his democratic socialist affiliation.<\/p>\n

In a press release, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) said that it put out a paid ad campaign across 49 \u201cbattleground districts\u201d in the wake of Mamdani\u2019s victory emphasizing \u201cthe Democrat Party\u2019s full embrace of socialism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hill has reached out to the Mamdani campaign for comment.<\/p>\n
