{"id":303927,"date":"2026-07-23T17:43:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T17:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/303927\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T17:43:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T17:43:09","slug":"cm-hankerson-announces-1-5-million-sanitation-investment-in-district-28-qns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/303927\/","title":{"rendered":"CM Hankerson announces $1.5 million sanitation investment in District 28 \u2013 QNS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_E3BFC7C346C5-1.jpeg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"sanitation\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Council Member Ty Hankerson secured a $1.5 million investment for sanitation and cleanup in District 28.<\/p>\n<p>Photo courtesy of the Office of Council Member Ty Hankerson<\/p>\n<p>New sanitation and cleanup efforts are on the way for <a href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/district-28\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">District 28<\/a> in Queens after Council Member Ty Hankerson announced an investment of over $1.5 million for the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>These sanitation investments, Hankerson\u2019s office said, are intended to address the daily trash, litter and corridor conditions that residents, homeowners, small businesses and visitors see across the district.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More than $1 million of that funding is dedicated for recurring street sweeping service along Liberty Avenue, which runs through <a href=\"https:\/\/qns.com\/neighborhoods\/south-richmond-hill\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">South Richmond Hill<\/a>, as well as $100,000 for a sanitation Manual Litter Patrol (MLP) truck and $470,000 in added cleanup services for the district.<\/p>\n<p>The MLP truck will run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving the district more consistent cleanup support throughout the week.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to Hankerson\u2019s office, the street sweeping service is a level of regular sanitation support that has never been provided before on this side of the district.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor years, residents and small businesses have been calling for stronger and more consistent cleaning along Liberty Avenue,\u201d Hankerson said. \u201cMy office made sure Liberty Avenue was a major focus in this budget, not only for this year but also as an ongoing priority.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the funding would help deliver reliable sanitation service that the community has \u201clong deserved.\u201d Cleaner streets and commercial corridors, he continued, are a basic part of quality of life, emphasizing that residents should be able to see that reflected in the services their government provides.<\/p>\n<p>Hankerson\u2019s office said the investments are part of the council member\u2019s broader commitment to improving quality of life in Southeast Queens through direct, visible and reliable city services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Council Member Ty Hankerson secured a $1.5 million investment for sanitation and cleanup in District 28.
