Lifelong New Yorker and real estate investor Charles Kushner is fleeing NYC for Florida because of, he says, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and First Lady Rama Duwaji\u2019s antisemitism<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to pay taxes and live in a city with a blatantly antisemitic mayor and his antisemitic wife, period,\u201d Kushner told The Post. \u201cI also don\u2019t want to live in the city with the people who voted for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kushner said his decision was driven less by Mamdani\u2019s socialist policies than by what he described as the mayor\u2019s hostility toward Jews<\/a> and Israel \u2014 pointing to Mamdani\u2019s refusal to march in the Israel Day Parade<\/a>, his call to have Benjamin Netanyahu arrested<\/a> as a war criminal, his outreach to Columbia University protesters who celebrated Hamas<\/a> and Duwaji seeming to celebrate the horrific attacks<\/a> on October 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think you can reason with people that celebrate brutality on October 7th and say it was a hoax,\u201d said Kushner, who is currently serving as US Ambassador to France and living in Paris for the time being. \u201cI don\u2019t think they are people worth talking to. I speak to a lot of people that don\u2019t have political views that I have, and there\u2019s two sides, and I respect everybody\u2019s opinion, but I don\u2019t respect anybody that celebrates murder, rape, brutality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kushner also called out how Mamdani\u2019s rhetoric and his rise to power reflect a broader resentment toward people who have built wealth \u2014 the same sentiment he said was on display when Mamdani attacked billionaire hedge funder Ken Griffin in a viral video.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a clip touting his pied-\u00e0-terre tax, Mamdani called out Griffin<\/a> by name as an example of the ultra-rich who \u201cstore their wealth in New York City real estate but don\u2019t actually live here full time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, Ken Griffin worked hard to earn all that money,\u201d Kushner said. \u201cHe took a lot of risk to earn all that money. That\u2019s what America\u2019s about.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kushner hasn\u2019t entirely given up on his hometown \u2014 he plans to become a Florida resident but will hold onto his New York apartment and pay that pied-\u00e0-terre tax \u2014 he fears that Mamdani may be the one person to ruin the city..<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a lot of people like me that love New York City,\u201d he said, adding that he hopes the city is \u201cso robust and such an energetic and strong city that hopefully one person can\u2019t ruin it.<\/p>\n

\u201cBill de Blasio couldn\u2019t ruin it, because the city is such an economic center, and really a cultural center, and it\u2019s the center of the world,\u201d he said. \u201cBut if I was a betting person, if one person could ruin it or bring it down, it\u2019s this mayor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kushner, a longtime real estate developer and investor, built Kushner Companies into one of the country\u2019s best-known family real estate firms. In 2004 he pled guilty to tax evasion, witness tampering and making illegal campaign contributions but was later pardoned by President Trump. His eldest son, Jared Kushner, is a former senior White House adviser and Trump\u2019s son-in-law. His younger son, Joshua Kushner, founded Thrive Capital.<\/p>\n

Kushner argued that Mamdani\u2019s supporters should be trying to seize the unique opportunities the city offers \u2014 not punish those who already have. \u201cThe opportunity is there for all Americans,\u201d he said, adding. \u201cI hope they find happiness with this moronic mayor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, he\u2019ll be enjoying life in the Sunshine State. <\/p>\n
