Jon Bon Jovi<\/a> abruptly ended his concert early on Thursday<\/a>, July 23.<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter was about 90 minutes into his set at Madison Square Garden in New York City when he called it quits due to a health issue.<\/p>\n

“Don’t throw away your ticket stubs, I’m gonna figure something out, OK?” he told fans. “Just hold onto it, we’ll figure out how to reschedule.”<\/p>\n

“I’m gonna have to cool it for a night,” the singer said before walking off stage. “I feel great, I’ll see you again soon, bye bye.”<\/p>\n

As he was exiting, Bon Jovi gave a thumbs up to a roaring crowd and hugged his band members.<\/p>\n

This was his eighth show on his Forever Tour. During the concert, Bon Jovi performed the 1986 hit “Livin’ On a Prayer” with the lead singer of Train, PatMonahan.<\/p>\n

“Jon Bon Jovi spoke from stage and told fans he has been battling a sinus infection which led to the show’s early ending,” a spokesperson for Bon Jovi told Rolling Stone<\/a> in a statement. “As part of the Bon Jovi residency at Madison Square Garden, Jon has said numerous times that it has been a joy to return to live shows for the band. Updated information will be available shortly.”<\/p>\n

The 64-year-old rocker returned to touring this month, four years after having surgery for a strained vocal cord. He spoke to People<\/a>about his recovery in a June cover story.<\/p>\n

“I’d often joked and said the only thing that’s ever been up my nose was my finger,” he said. “I never did anything to hurt the cords; I didn’t have any excesses. I’m a trained vocalist. I’ve practiced the craft.”<\/p>\n

Bon Jovi revealed his doctor told him his vocal cords were “atrophying.”<\/p>\n

“I’m fully recovered,” he said in June. “It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith.”<\/p>\n
