The FDNY says seven firefighters were hospitalized.<\/p>\n<p>Cars and nearby trash caught fire at 955 Westchester Ave. just after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Fire officials say firefighters were battling the flames when the car exploded, sending a large fireball into the sky.<\/p>\n<p>The seven firefighters surrounded by the wall of fire are expected to recover at NYC Health + Hospitals\/Jacobi. Three of those firefighters suffered serious burns and were admitted to the trauma and burn center, according to the FDNY.<\/p>\n<p>A firetruck that was damaged in the explosion had to be towed from the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The FDNY says they are actively investigating the cause of the explosion and don&#8217;t believe wind was a factor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Video obtained by News 12 captures the moment a car exploded after catching fire in Longwood.
