Ryan McCartan (Heathers The Musical, Wicked<\/a>), who has played several stints as Jay Gatsby in Broadway’s\u00a0The Great Gatsby<\/a>, returns to the title role\u00a0July 27 at the Broadway Theatre. He is joined by\u00a0Great Gatsby national tour star Senzel Ahmady, who is making her Main Stem\u00a0debut in the role of Daisy Buchanan\u00a0for a limited engagement through August 2.<\/p>\n

Ahmady and McCartan\u00a0succeed\u00a0the musical\u2019s original star, two-time Tony nominee Eva Noblezada<\/a> (Hadestown<\/a>, Miss Saigon<\/a>), and Grammy winner Reeve Carney<\/a> (Hadestown, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), who\u00a0played their final performances as Daisy and Jay Gatsby July 26. Original Broadway cast member Samantha Pauly<\/a>\u00a0also played\u00a0her final performance as Jordan Baker\u00a0July 26.<\/p>\n

As previously reported,\u00a0China Anne McClain, best known for her work in the Descendants franchise as well as Black Lightning and A.N.T. Farm, will make her Broadway debut in The Great Gatsby\u00a0beginning August 3. She will be Daisy opposite the Gatsby of McCartan.<\/p>\n

The Broadway musical also\u00a0features Corbin
\nBleu as Nick Carraway, John Behlmann<\/a> (Tootsie<\/a>, Shucked<\/a>)
\n as Tom Buchanan, Linedy Genao<\/a> as Myrtle
\nWilson, Charlie Pollock<\/a> as George
\nWilson, and Matthew Sald\u00edvar as Meyer Wolfsheim.<\/p>\n

The ensemble includes Raymond Baynard<\/a>, Alexis Hasbrouck<\/a>, Curtis
\nHolland, Nathaniel
\nHunt, Traci Elaine Lee<\/a>, Alicia Lundgren<\/a>, Dariana Mullen<\/a>, Chase
\nPeacock, Dan Rosales<\/a>, Dave
\n Schoonover, Tess Soltau<\/a>, Kyla Stone<\/a>, Preston Taylor<\/a>, Damani Van
\nRensalier, and Matt Wiercinski<\/a>. Kurt Csolak<\/a>, Haley
\nFish, Morgan Harrison<\/a>, Justin Keats<\/a>, Drew Lake<\/a>, Brandon J. Large<\/a>, Emily
\nAnn Nestor, Alex Prakken<\/a>, and Elena Ricardo<\/a> round out the cast as
\nswings.<\/p>\n

Based on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald<\/a> novel, The Great Gatsby features music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen<\/a> (Paradise Square<\/a>) and Jason Howland<\/a> (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical<\/a>) and a book by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan<\/a> (The Mad Ones). Marc Bruni<\/a> (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) directs with choreography by Dominique Kelley<\/a> (Mariah\u2019s Magical Christmas Special).<\/p>\n

Set in the Roaring ’20s, the musical follows eccentric millionaire
\nJay Gatsby, who will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy
\nBuchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth.<\/p>\n

The Great Gatsby also has scenic and projection design by
\nPaul Tate de Poo III, costume design by Linda Cho<\/a>, sound design by Brian
\n Ronan, lighting design by Cory Pattak<\/a>, and hair and wig design by
\nCharles G. LaPointe<\/a> and Rachael Geier<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Arrangements are by Jason Howland, orchestrations are by Howland and
\nKim Scharnberg<\/a>, the music director is Daniel Edmonds<\/a>, and the music
\nproducer is Grammy winner Billy Jay Stein for Strike Audio. <\/p>\n

Casting is by C12 Casting, and the production stage manager is Brian
\nBogin. Mark Shacket<\/a> of Foresight Theatrical<\/a> serves as executive
\nproducer.<\/p>\n

The musical won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical.<\/p>\n
