Mayor Eric Adams posted a brief video message Tuesday night, accepting the results of the election.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to say congratulations to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani,” he said, wearing a white shirt and sporting a serious face as he congratulated his successor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The mayor said he hasn’t spoken to Mamdani yet but plans to invite him to Gracie Mansion for a meeting amid the transition\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mamdani\u2019s win<\/a> marks the beginning of the end of Adams’ one term.<\/p>\n

By Wednesday morning, the 110th mayor was already in transition mode.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted [Andrew] Cuomo to win? Yes, but he\u2019s the pilot now. And all of my criticisms, all of my dislikes of his policies, all things the [Democratic Socialists of America] has done, to me that\u2019s not significant now. He’s the mayor now. Any mayor is going to get my 100% support because New York can\u2019t fail,” he told reporters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Adams said he\u2019s not done yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Wednesday morning, he offered 2,900 city employees<\/a>, who were terminated for not getting COVID-19 vaccinations, their jobs back.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The mayor even revealed his plan for a more accessible city.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a whole lot of things I want to do. One of the biggest things I\u2019m going to do is introduce a language-inclusive city. We have technology now that, no matter what language you speak, you should be able to walk into an agency and have a conversation to get the delivery of services,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the closing of Adams’ chapter also comes the mass exodus of top officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker is headed for the exit door<\/a>. Tucker tendered his resignation hours after Mamdani became mayor-elect. He departs on Dec. 19.<\/p>\n

Kaz Daughtry, the deputy mayor of public safety, also seems to be leaving early, according to the New York Daily News.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSome are going to depart now. People departed under me. Some people said, “I don’t want to serve when Eric became the mayor,’ and some are going to say the same for Zohran. He can\u2019t take that personally. I didn\u2019t take it personally. People want to serve under certain administrations,” Adams said.<\/p>\n

As for what the mayor does next, that remains a mystery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIndividuals from various parts of the globe have reached out to me and stated, ‘We\u2019ve liked what you\u2019ve done in New York, we\u2019re having issues in our country around public safety, around education, around housing.’ And so, I have a lot of opportunities I\u2019m looking at to help cities across the country and across the globe,” Adams said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know how good it feels that I don\u2019t have to get up and worry about a 12-hour day? That I can spend time with [whomever] I want. That I can just enjoy life and travel again,” he continued.<\/p>\n
