RIVERDALE, NY \u2013 The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) named 1,432 universities and colleges across the nation, with Manhattan Men’s Volleyball being selected as one to have maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale for the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award, per release on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
“I’m proud of the team for working hard in the classroom and earning AVCA Team Academic honors,” said Head Coach Chris Schortgen.<\/p>\n
“This is another standard set and building block for the foundation of this program to build on. We look forward to continued success on and off the court.”<\/p>\n
As a team, the Jaspers posted a 3.46 grade-point average. Individually, the Men’s Volleyball team garnered 12 of 15 players on the roster with a 3.3 grade-point average. 80 percent of the combined inaugural roster qualified for the first team award in as many years in existence.<\/p>\n
