Police are looking for the suspected slasher, described as a male in his teens who was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue sweatpants and blue sneakers while carrying a black backpack.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding the slashing can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). All calls and messages are kept confidential.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the Department of Education (DOE) said the incident was \u201cboth unacceptable and deeply concerning.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchool staff and school safety agents responded immediately and followed established safety protocols, while NYPD and EMS were swiftly on site to further ensure the safety of our students and staff,\u201d according to a DOE spokesperson. \u201cActs of violence have no place in our school community, and this incident will be addressed with the utmost seriousness in accordance with school policies and the law. We will be providing additional support to the school in the coming days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through July 19, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/assets\/nypd\/downloads\/pdf\/crime_statistics\/cs-en-us-044pct.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">44th Precinct had reported 547 felony assaults<\/a> year-to-date, down 5.2% from the 577 that occurred at the same point in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\t<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FILE \u2013 A police officer stands guard at a crime scene.
