FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens (PIX11) \u2014 The charges are pending after a man suspected of killing his mother and sister before police shot him during a confrontation in front of a Queens home<\/a> on Saturday, sources said Monday.<\/p>\n

Kegan Thomas<\/a>, 33, is accused of shooting his 28-year-old sister, Selena Ponce, in the shoulder and his mother, 58-year-old Clemer Ponce, in the chest inside the home on Ocean\u00a0Crest\u00a0Boulevard in Far Rockaway just before noon, police and sources said.<\/p>\n

A woman told police she heard gunshots inside her home and that her husband, who has a history of mental illness, was armed, officials said.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the man was allegedly saying, “Kill them, kill them,” during the 911 call.<\/p>\n

Officers met the woman outside, and she told them she heard gunshots and found a body in a room. She then fled the home and told first responders her husband had a shotgun.<\/p>\n

Patrol officers called for backup and attempted to speak to Thomas, who was still inside the house.<\/p>\n

A large fiery explosion then occurred as they attempted to enter the home. Thomas came out wearing a bulletproof vest and holding a shotgun loaded with ammunition, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Thomas was told multiple times to drop his shotgun, and when he didn’t, officers shot him, police said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.<\/p>\n

The suspect’s mother and sister were found in the home and were pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n

The charges against Thomas are still pending on Monday, police said.<\/p>\n
