{"id":307970,"date":"2026-07-28T20:35:27","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/307970\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T20:35:27","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:35:27","slug":"new-york-drivers-face-eight-point-license-violation-for-bridge-strikes-under-new-statewide-enforcement-effort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/307970\/","title":{"rendered":"New York drivers face eight-point license violation for bridge strikes under new statewide enforcement effort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ROCHESTER, N.Y. \u2014 A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/governor-hochul-announces-coordinated-public-awareness-and-enforcement-campaign-prevent-bridge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">statewide campaign is underway to reduce bridge strikes<\/a>, focusing on safety for commercial drivers and rental truck operators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cCheck Your Height, Know It\u2019s Right!\u201d campaign runs July 27 through 31, combining increased enforcement with public education. Since February, drivers who hit a bridge face an eight-point violation on their license. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBridge strikes are 100 percent preventable, and everyone plays a critical role in preventing these strikes from happening,\u201d\u00a0Governor Hochul said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State officials reported 310 bridge strikes in 2025. <\/p>\n<p>NYSP patrols <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York State Troopers will have patrols in areas across the state as part of the campaign.
