{"id":308846,"date":"2026-07-29T17:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T17:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/308846\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T17:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T17:00:09","slug":"ex-rangers-star-ron-duguay-health-improving-after-collapse-at-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/308846\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Rangers star Ron Duguay health improving after collapse at home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Ranger and MSG Network personality Ron Duguay is showing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stories\/mrs__shay\/3951608334976038837\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">signs of improvement<\/a> after collapsing in his family\u2019s Florida home Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The 69-year-old retired NHL star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbRD9_qP-8O\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">remained hospitalized<\/a> Monday. His daughter said he had a relatively good day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA little update on my dad: he had a better day today,\u201d Shay Thomas posted on Instagram Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Duguay who\u2019s battling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nhl\/2026\/07\/28\/ron-duguay-rangers-hospitalized-collapse-cancer\/91079118007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">stage four colon cancer<\/a>, was tended to by paramedics at the start of the weekend after losing consciousness. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-ron-duguays-fight-against-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Thomas said<\/a> that her dad suffered facial injuries including lost teeth when he fell. Doctors are said to have discovered that he had an ulcer and internal bleeding, as well as being severely dehydrated.<\/p>\n<p>A few days of rest appeared to have done some good for the former center, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/ron-duguay-8446531\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">led the Rangers in scoring<\/a> and played in the NHL All-Star Game 1982.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was able to eat a little, get up and take a short walk, which felt like a huge win after the last several days,\u201d Shay reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s still in the hospital and has another night there as of now while the doctors continue to monitor him, but we are grateful for every small step forward,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Ron Duguay attends the Heroes in Uniforms Charity Hockey Tournament March 23, 2002 in New York City.\" width=\"1968\" data- src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/GettyImages-706888.jpg\" data-attachment-id=\"9165311\" \/>Ron Duguay attends the Heroes in Uniforms Charity Hockey Tournament March 23, 2002 in New York City.  (Lawrence Lucier\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>She thanked supporter for their prayers and asked for more.<\/p>\n<p>A GoFundMe page to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-ron-duguays-fight-against-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pay Duguay\u2019s medical costs<\/a> says the Canadian travels from Florida to Orange County, California, on a regular basis for medical treatments.
