The Time Warp will continue:\u00a0The Tony-nominated revival\u00a0of Richard O\u2019Brien\u2019s The Rocky Horror Show<\/a>\u00a0has again extended its limited engagement at Broadway’s Studio 54.<\/p>\n

The production, which began previews March 26 and officially opened April 23, was originally scheduled through\u00a0June 21. The production was earlier extended through November 29. Tickets are now on sale through February 28, 2027.\u00a0Tony Award\u00a0winner Sam Pinkleton<\/a> directs.<\/p>\n

The
\n production broke the house record at Studio 54 the week ending June
\n 28, with a box-office take of $1,215,225, becoming\u00a0the highest-grossing production to play the theatre. <\/p>\n

The Rocky Horror Show cast currently includes Rachel Dratch<\/a> as Narrator,\u00a0Andrew Durand<\/a> as Brad, Luke Evans<\/a> as Frank-N-Furter,\u00a0Amber Gray<\/a> as Riff Raff,\u00a0Harvey Guill\u00e9n<\/a> as Eddie\/Dr. Scott, Stephanie Hsu<\/a> as Janet,\u00a0Josh Rivera as Rocky, Sherie Rene Scott<\/a> as Magenta, and\u00a0Valentina as Columbia as well as Ren\u00e9e Albulario<\/a>, Anania, Boy Radio<\/a>, Tassy Kirbas<\/a>, Caleb Quezon<\/a>, Andres Quintero<\/a>, Larkin Reilly<\/a>, Paul Soileau<\/a>, and John Yi<\/a>.\u202f<\/p>\n

The production recently announced that Grammy nominee\u00a0Jake Shears<\/a> (Scissor Sisters; Kinky Boots<\/a>; Cabaret<\/a>) will join the production as Frank-N-Furter beginning\u00a0September 11; Tony nominee Lorna Courtney<\/a> (& Juliet, Heathers: The Musical) will join as Janet beginning August 25; and SAG winner and Grammy nominee Kevin McHale (The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee, Glee) will make\u00a0his Broadway debut as Brad, also starting August 25.<\/p>\n

The Rocky Horror Show features choreography by Ani Taj<\/a> (Dead Outlaw<\/a>), music direction and orchestrations by Kris Kukul<\/a> (Beetlejuice), set design by Tony nominee dots (Oh, Mary!<\/a>), costume design by David I. Reynoso (Water for Elephants), lighting design by Tony winner Jane Cox<\/a> (Appropriate<\/a>), sound design by Tony winner Brian Ronan<\/a> (Beautiful), hair and wig design by Alberto \u201cAlbee\u201d Alvarado (The Outsiders<\/a>), and make-up design by Sterling Tull<\/a> (No Glow, Love Island USA), with Bryan Bauer<\/a> (Oh, Mary!, Mother Play<\/a>) as the production stage manager.<\/p>\n

The Rocky Horror Show premiered in London at the Royal Court
\n Theatre (Upstairs) June 19, 1973. It moved to several other locations,
\nultimately running for a cumulative 2,960 performances before it closed
\nin 1980. The musical follows a straight-laced couple, Brad and Janet,
\nwho stumble upon a spooky house on a rainy night, and become attracted
\nto the strange denizens who live within\u2014particularly Frank-N-Furter, a
\ngender non-conforming mad scientist. The show’s rock-influenced score
\nincludes the crowd-pleasing songs “Sweet Transvestite, “The Timewarp,”
\n\u201cDammit Janet,\u201d and \u201cTouch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a Touch Me.”<\/p>\n

After London, Rocky Horror played in Los Angeles in 1974,
\nwhere it ran for nine months. Its 1975 Broadway debut was not as
\nsuccessful, receiving mixed reviews and running for only three previews
\nand 45 showings.<\/p>\n

But it was the film adaptation of Rocky Horror, called The Rocky Horror Picture Show,
\n that truly propelled the musical into legendary status. Starring
\ncreator O’Brien as Riff Raff and Tim Curry<\/a> as Frank-N-Furter (reprising
\nhis stage performance), as well as Susan Sarandon<\/a> and Barry Bostwick<\/a>,
\nthe film has been playing in movie theatres since 1975, with fans
\nattracted to its message of sexual and gender acceptance. The property’s
\n cultural impact was recently explored in the new documentary Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror, created by Richard O’Brien’s son, Linus.<\/p>\n

The Rocky Horror Show had a Broadway revival in 2000 and a
\nWest End revival in 2023. It’s also a favorite of regional theatres. The
\n production estimates that the stage version has been seen by over 40
\nmillion people in some 15 languages.<\/p>\n
