{"id":309216,"date":"2026-07-29T21:55:20","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T21:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/309216\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T21:55:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T21:55:20","slug":"hey-lebron-i-found-you-the-perfect-nyc-pied-a-terre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/309216\/","title":{"rendered":"Hey LeBron, I Found You the Perfect NYC Pied-\u00e0-Terre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LeBron James is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/news\/lebron-james-free-agency-sixers-2026?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">playing for the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>, but he&#8217;s reportedly thinking about living in and commuting from New York City.<\/p>\n<p>This would be unbelievably cruel and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossingbroad.com\/news\/sixers\/i-dont-give-a-rats-ass-if-lebron-james-lives-in-new-york-city-and-commutes-to-philly\/?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">embarrassing<\/a> for the literal city of brotherly love, and absolutely fantastic for New Yorkers, who would be rooting against King James on the court while cheering about the cash that he&#8217;ll potentially be contributing to our coffers via the state&#8217;s new pied-\u00e0-terre tax.<\/p>\n<p>Under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/laws\/TAX\/A30-C?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the new law<\/a>, championed by Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani, owners of co-ops or condos with a tax valuation of $1 million or more will be hit with a surcharge of up to 6.5 percent, while owners of one to three family homes valued at $5 million or more will pay a surcharge of up to 1.3 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite rumors of <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/esidery\/status\/2081737632392814670?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\">helicopter commuting<\/a>, James himself has not indicated that he plans to live in New York City for the season, but it would make sense for the NBA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/tylerroush\/2026\/07\/24\/heres-why-lebron-can-afford-to-take-a-pay-cut-to-join-the-76ers\/?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">only actively playing billionaire<\/a>. He already has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/onsi\/athlete-lifestyle\/lebron-james-70-million-real-estate-empire-spans-three-states?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">nationwide $70 million property portfolio<\/a> which reportedly spans lavish estates in Ohio, Miami, and Los Angeles. So why not add to his portfolio by investing in the Big Apple?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I have put together three perfect options for James in Manhattan, each near a heliport, with a rough estimate of the (rather reasonable!) second home surcharge he would pay.<\/p>\n<p>Like any good real estate broker, I have considered everything I need to consider: his height (6&#8217;9&#8243;), budget (net worth: $1.4 billion), family size (one wife, three kids), hobbies (golf, yoga, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/BVkBjM7hv7X\/?ref=hellgatenyc.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">watching &#8220;Tom &amp; Jerry&#8221;<\/a>), and proximity to said heliport.
