The latest batch of rebate checks from New York state will be sent this fall.<\/p>\n
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced earlier this month that nearly 3 million New Yorkers across the state will receive more than $2 billion in tax relief this summer and fall through New York’s School Tax Relief, or STAR, program. It provides property and tax relief to eligible homeowners and senior citizens across the state.<\/p>\n
While some recipients will receive their benefit in the form of a tax exemption this year, others will receive a tax credit and will be sent a check this summer and fall.<\/p>\n
According to Gothamist<\/a>, the next round of checks will be sent ahead of the gubernatorial election scheduled for Nov. 3. The timing drew criticism from Republicans, who called the program a gimmick, according to Gothamist.<\/p>\n It’s the second year that New York state will be sending rebate checks to taxpayers in the fall.
