And according to a new study, that silver-screen reputation isn\u2019t just fiction\u2014NYC has officially been named the most romantic city in the U.S.<\/p>\n

According to new research from Agilis, New York City recorded the highest number of romance-related Google searches per capita among the country\u2019s 30 largest cities.<\/p>\n

Researchers analyzed search interest for 28 different romance-focused terms\u2014from \u201cromantic getaways\u201d and \u201cdate night ideas\u201d to \u201cproposal locations,\u201d \u201cromantic restaurants,\u201d \u201ccouples activities,\u201d and \u201canniversary ideas\u201d\u2014before adjusting the results based on each city\u2019s population.<\/p>\n

The result? New York came out on top with 212 romance-related Google searches per 100,000 residents, making it the country\u2019s most romance-obsessed city.<\/p>\n

Why New York came out on top<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hardly surprising that NYC earned first place.<\/p>\n

According to Agilis founder Jehan Rajendra:<\/p>\n

New York taking the top spot makes sense when you consider the sheer variety of experiences available to couples. From Central Park walks and rooftop dinners to Broadway shows and countless restaurants, there are plenty of ways to plan a memorable date.<\/p>\n

The city also generated particularly strong search interest for romantic restaurants, proposal locations, wedding venues, couples\u2019 activities, romantic weekends, and anniversary ideas.<\/p>\n

The study looked at how Americans search for love<\/p>\n

Rather than simply measuring how many romantic attractions each city has, researchers focused on what residents were actively searching for online.<\/p>\n

The study examined monthly Google search volume for 28 romance-related topics, including:<\/p>\n

Romantic getaways<\/p>\n

Date night ideas<\/p>\n

Couples activities<\/p>\n

Romantic restaurants<\/p>\n

Proposal locations<\/p>\n

Wedding venues<\/p>\n

Romantic hotels<\/p>\n

Anniversary ideas<\/p>\n

Romantic experiences<\/p>\n

Couples spa packages<\/p>\n

Search volumes were then normalized against each city\u2019s population to determine which cities show the strongest interest in romance relative to the number of people living there.<\/p>\n

Luckily, NYC has no shortage of romantic places<\/p>\n

Of course, New Yorkers already know there\u2019s no shortage of places to fall in love\u2014or simply enjoy a great date.<\/p>\n

From rowing boats on Central Park Lake and sunset walks across the Brooklyn Bridge to candlelit dinners in the West Village, rooftop cocktails overlooking Manhattan, and Broadway shows followed by late-night dessert, the city continues to offer endless ways to create unforgettable memories together.<\/p>\n
