Bronx Film Week is back for its second year, running from August 13 to August 22. Kicking off with a community party on Aug. 13, at SoBro Garden, 26 Bruckner Blvd, Bronx, NY 10454, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the event will feature filmmakers, Eif Rivera and Rashaad Ernesto Green, and will offer press, partners, and film lovers an early look at the week ahead.<\/p>\n

From there, it will expand across 14 venues throughout The Bronx, including Regal Concourse<\/a>, the Bronx Museum, Pregones Theater, Andrew Freedman Home, and Lehman College, Inspiration Point, Bronx Children\u2019s Museum and Bronx House, among others.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe Bronx needs an indie cinema,\u201d said Gregory Hernandez, executive director of the Bronx Independent Cinema Center<\/a>\u00a0(BICC), the organization behind the festival. \u201cWe have the audience. Now, we need the space.\u201d <\/p>\n Organizers say 42 films, including independent features, shorts, local work, revivals, and documentaries, will be screened over the course of the week and there will also be two panel discussions, a fireside chat, a trivia night, and a walking cinema tour in Fordham. Now in its second year, the film week is powered by more than 30 community volunteers, they said.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Organizers went on to say that Bronx Film Week was created to address what they identified as a persistent gap in the borough\u2019s cultural landscape: the lack of dedicated space for independent filmmakers, film lovers, and film workers to screen, discuss, and celebrate their work close to home. By bringing programming into neighborhood venues rather than a single central location, they said the festival aims to make the Bronx a visible and lasting home for independent cinema.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Bronx Film Week Overview<\/p>\n \u2022 42 total films screened, spanning independent, local, short, feature, revival, and documentary work. Featured Films<\/p>\n The 2026 line-up includes a mix of Bronx-made and Bronx-centered stories alongside acclaimed independent and classic titles. Among them are \u201cSimpson Street,\u201d \u201cChristmas Wedding Baby,\u201d \u201cGenerational Growth,\u201d \u201cFor Venida, For Kalief,\u201d \u201cBrain Fest,\u201d \u201cThe Sight Unseen,\u201d \u201cWild Style,\u201d \u201cThe Wanderers,\u201d and \u201cOur Song.\u201d Additional titles and full screening schedules by venue will be announced ahead of opening night.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThis is so important; I\u2019m excited to screen my film at Bronx Film Week,\u201d said Nevaeh-Leh Lipscomb, filmmaker, Bronx native, and School of the Visual Arts (SVA) graduate.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Bronx Film Week is presented in partnership with organizations rooted in the borough\u2019s neighborhoods and business corridors, including the 161st Street BID, White Plains Road BID, Bronx Terminal Market, and the Hip Hop Film Festival.
