NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — The colorful sights, sounds and spirit of the 44th annual National Dominican Day Parade will march through Midtown Manhattan on Sunday, August 9.<\/p>\n
The celebration will travel along Sixth Avenue between West 37th and West 55th streets.<\/p>\n
WABC-TV is a proud sponsor of the parade and will stream the celebration from noon to 3 p.m. on abc7ny.com<\/a>, our social platforms, Disney+ and wherever you stream ABC 7 New York.<\/p>\n The theme of this year’s parade is “Identidad y Cultura,” or identity and culture.<\/p>\n Officials unveiled this year’s honorees at the Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center in Washington Heights on July 23.<\/p>\n There are 15 honorees, including this year’s parade grand marshal, Dr. Ram\u00f3n Tallaj, the founder and chairman of SOMOS Community Care.<\/p>\n The parade is also a time to fundraise and help young students achieve their academic goals through its scholarship program<\/a>.<\/p>\n Since starting the program in 2015, the National Dominican Day Parade has committed more than $1 million in funding to over 200 students across 20 states, according to event officials.
