{"id":311860,"date":"2026-08-02T11:40:38","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T11:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/311860\/"},"modified":"2026-08-02T11:40:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T11:40:38","slug":"new-york-air-show-takes-to-the-skies-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/311860\/","title":{"rendered":"New York Air Show takes to the skies (GALLERY)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/midhudsonnews.com\/?attachment_id=293883\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-293883 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-293883\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BK8126-222x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"300\"  \/><\/a>A skydiver at the New York Air Show (photo: Bond Brungard)<\/p>\n<p>MONTGOMERY \u2013 The United States Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team returned to the Hudson Valley Saturday during the New York Air Show at the Orange County Airport.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The F-16 Falcon, with a top speed of around 1,500 MPH has been with the Thunderbirds for more than 40 years, and the team of six aircraft fly in formations 18 inches apart during air shows.<\/p>\n<p>Ed Capovami, of Glenville in the Capital Region, is a pilot and photographer who combined both passions by spending the hot afternoon in the photo pit, getting to his tripod and camera when the flybys were announced.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cImpressive, absolutely,\u201d he said, of the Thunderbirds\u2019 tight formations and magic in the sky. \u201cAll the Gs they\u2019re pulling, the precision flying they\u2019re doing, the nerves of steel. They know what they are flying. They know their aircraft, the mechanics of it.
