A massive fireball erupted on Wednesday night as firefighters arrived at the scene of a Bronx fire.<\/p>\n
Seven firefighters were injured in the explosion. Five of the firefighters had severe burns to their hands and face, said FDNY Chief of Department John Esposito during a press conference on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
He added that the burns are considered serious but not life-threatening. The firefighters are awake, alert and speaking, but have serious burns. <\/p>\n
When the firefighters arrived on the scene, cars, trash and debris were on fire. <\/p>\n
But shortly after, a massive wall of fire surrounded the firefighters, said Dr. Sheldon Teperman from Jacobi Medical Center. He said they are expected to recover and he spoke to each of them. <\/p>\n
What they were concerned about is their colleagues and their families,” Teperman said.<\/p>\n
