{"id":312014,"date":"2026-08-02T17:32:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T17:32:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/312014\/"},"modified":"2026-08-02T17:32:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T17:32:12","slug":"bob-ojeda-blames-spiraling-mets-season-on-david-stearns-in-heated-rant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/312014\/","title":{"rendered":"Bob Ojeda blames spiraling Mets season on David Stearns in heated rant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wally Backman has gone from fan favorite to just another Mets fan, asking the same questions as countless others who have suffered through the team\u2019s 40-year championship drought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really bothers the heck out of us,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/sny.tv\/articles\/mets-40th-anniversary-celebration-bittersweet-reminder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Backman told SNY on Saturday<\/a>, as the 1986 title team was honored at Citi Field. \u201cWe\u2019ve all been talking about it: How can it be this long? MLB Photos via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try not to even think about it because it\u2019s so frustrating,\u201d Ojeda told SNY. \u201cI really think it\u2019s on Stearns. He built this thing and I don\u2019t think he believes in intangibles, which I believe are so important to a winning ballclub. And I don\u2019t blame fans if they don\u2019t want to spend their money on this team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s also hard to believe it\u2019s been forty years and we\u2019re still the last team to win.
