Iowa State football fans can celebrate another Cyclone on the journey to making it to the NFL. 2025 graduate Tyler Moore has officially signed with the New York Giants on July 27.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The tight end has been actively pursuing a professional football career after being a huge asset to Iowa State. Over the five seasons Moore played with Iowa State, he recorded 21 receptions for 245 total yards and had two touchdowns.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After his collegiate playing career, he attended the Carolina Panthers\u2019 mini-camp for a tryout with the team. After not making the roster, Moore put his head down and worked harder. He impressed the New York Giants\u2019 head coach John Harbaugh and coaching staff enough to be able to reach a deal after an 18-man workout held on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Moore will still have to compete in fall camp for a roster spot coming up before the season begins Sept. 13 against the Cowboys.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the meantime, Moore will be focused on battling it out with other Giants\u2019 tight ends to earn a spot on the roster as the fourth-string tight end. Thomas Fidone II was the fourth-string tight end on the Giants\u2019 depth chart and was dealing with a foot injury that opened up a spot for a potential replacement. However, Fidone has been upgraded to active and will compete with Moore and Chris Manhertz.<\/p>\n
The coaching staff will be evaluating Moore through training camp and pre-season games to see his potential value for the tight end room. Moore is a great blocker and has shown the ability to be able to run routes and be physical on the offensive side of the ball.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBetween the whistle and the snap, that kid gives you everything he\u2019s got every day,\u201d former Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell said. \u201cHe\u2019s been the ultimate teammate.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The type of mentality that Campbell describes is something that you cannot teach, which is effort. Moore displays the ability to be resilient even after having many injuries in his time as a Cyclone, and that effort will take him a long way in the NFL.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Campbell was not the only coach to rave about Moore. Former Iowa State offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser also describes Moore\u2019s character as a testament to who he is as a football player and a man.\u00a0<\/p>\n
